The event

One effective food conservation concept is packaging under a modified atmosphere, known as MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging). MAP can extend the best-by date of many foods - provided that the packaging is intact. That is why tightness tests are essential as part of a holistic packaging concept. Conducted after the modified atmosphere packaging, they should ensure that only absolutely sound packaging leaves the production unit. Various different methods of conducting such tests are available on the market. For users in the food sector, the question that arises is, "which system is best for my application from a technical point of view?" Following an introduction to current developments in food packagings, various items of equipment for testing the tightness of packagings will be presented. This will be followed by a discussion of the different testing principles and their pros and cons for users.
