The food industry is facing major challenges: the market demands more for less. New products must be manufactured and delivered in less time. The production process must guarantee a constant high-quality, full end-to-end traceability, and must sometimes support identification and customization down to the individually packaged piece. At the same time products have to be produced in the most efficient way with limited equipment- and human resources. In order to meet these requirements, the ‘Objective’ software suite (MES, WMS, WFM) has turned many food companies into Smart Digital Factories. Objective orchestrates production and logistics processes from gate to gate. Sensors and actuators, up to fully automatic production lines and material storage & handling equipment, are linked to each other in the Internet of Things. Examples of Industry 4.0 cases will be explained in detail. Note: feel free to experiment with Food FabLabs at the Obje ctive booth.
