the health and safety of all trade fair participants is very important to us. It is therefore important for us to involve you openly and transparently in the planning for the upcoming Anuga FoodTec at an early stage and to keep you informed about the current situation.
Digital expansion to reach even more visitors worldwide
Anuga FoodTec 2021 will probably look different than in the past; customers from some countries will probably not be able to travel to Cologne. In order to make the fair a success for you, we are taking numerous targeted measures. On the one hand, we are stepping up our efforts to attract visitors, especially in the European countries. On the other hand, we are currently developing a digital platform that will provide virtual support for your presentation at Anuga FoodTec. The aim is to increase your worldwide coverage in the current period. This will give you the opportunity to exchange ideas with your customers and potential customers at Anuga FoodTec and to present your innovations even if these people should not come to Cologne. These tools were or are in use at our purely virtual trade fairs gamescom and dmexco, will be adapted afterwards and will then also be available for you at Anuga FoodTec 2021. We will come back to you with the details in October.
The situation in Germany
As you may already have gathered from the media, the German government, together with the Prime Ministers, has extended the current ban on major gatherings until the end of December 2020. As before, these include events such as public festivals, concerts and sporting events, but NOT trade fairs like Anuga FoodTec. In addition, the ban only applies to events where contact tracking and compliance with hygiene regulations is not possible. The good news for you: The current decision does not change anything for Anuga FoodTec.
Anuga FoodTec - but secure!
In close cooperation with the authorities, we at Koelnmesse have developed criteria and measures to make your networking as safe and successful as possible, even in corona times. The safety concept passed its baptism of fire at the RDA Group Travel Expo and the trade logistics congress Log 2020 in Cologne in August, as well as at the Interzum Guangzhou with over 100,000 trade visitors. The measures include appropriate hygiene, distance control at the various points on the site as well as specifications for processes at the entrances, in the halls and on the stands. We will carry out a full registration of the participants, also already during construction period. The flexibility and size of our fair ground and the possibilities of our digital guidance systems will ensure a smooth trade fair in the new normality. We will have to do without stand parties and social events in 2021 and adapt to a changed catering concept. But we are convinced that we can live with these requirements together. With this we guarantee professional safety at the highest level and create an environment in which your business can grow again.
Good registration status
Anuga FoodTec 2018 was the largest and most visited in its history. Even if we will not reach these record figures again in the current situation, the omens for Anuga FoodTec 2021 are very promising: around 85% of the exhibition space for 2018 has already been booked and we still have over six months to go. Many of our major exhibitors have again increased their space, such as Weber, Multivac, John Bean Technologies, Vemag, Mondini, Handtmann, Ulma, Seydelmann, Provisur, GEA, Marel, Schomaker or the South Korean group participation. Other companies will be presenting their solutions in Cologne for the first time or will be returning after a break, such as Azzar, Soncini, Allgaier, Wipotec, SSI Schäfer, Dosimaq, Röchling, Evyl, Nichimo or Yutaka, to name just a few.

The visitors are waiting for you!
The demand for new solutions in the food and beverage industry remains high, companies report that a small investment backlog has recently formed. Now it is important to meet this need for information professionally. We assume that the total investment volume of visitors to Anuga FoodTec will probably be similarly high as last time.
You are on the safe side
We would like to finish with a word, as questions keep coming up: We are closely monitoring the worldwide incidence of infection and the associated travel opportunities. Should the current situation change and the fair not be feasible, you are on the safe side and take no risks: In this case, you would of course have the option of terminating our contract free of charge.
