DLG (German Agricultural Society) has announced the International FoodTec Award for the 13th time, opening the competition for this prestigious innovation prize in international food technology. Companies in the food and beverage industry and their suppliers can submit groundbreaking new developments or well-known technologies that have undergone significant advancements. An international jury of experts will select the winners in the Gold and Silver categories. The high-profile awards ceremony will take place during Anuga FoodTec 2027, the international supplier trade fair for the food and beverage industry, in Cologne. Registration is open until 4th May, 2026, at https://www.dlg.org/en/food/awards/foodtec-award.

With the International FoodTec Award, DLG and its partners recognize outstanding technological innovations and pioneering developments in food technology – particularly in the areas of sustainability and process efficiency. These innovations and developments are also intended to contribute to improving quality and safety in food technology and support sustainable global food security.

Key Topics

Submissions permitted include innovations in the fields of process technology, filling and packaging technology, packaging materials and packaging, automation, robotics, and measurement and control technology. Advanced solutions in intralogistics, food safety and analytics, refrigeration and air conditioning technology, and environmental technology are also allowed. Especially developments surrounding the processing of alternative proteins, innovations in biotechnology and technological additives or ingredients are particularly addressed.

These and numerous other topics are currently affecting the entire global food processing and supply industry. With superior engineering skills, creative ideas, and entrepreneurial vision, practical technological solutions are emerging from current challenges, which are recognized with the International FoodTec Award.

International FoodTec Award 2027

The International FoodTec Award 2027 will be awarded in the form of gold and silver medals. A gold medal recognizes products with a new concept whose function has been significantly changed and whose use enables a new process or significantly improves an existing process. Silver medals go to existing products that have been further developed to achieve a significant improvement in function or process.

International Expert Jury

The award winners are selected by an international jury chaired by Prof. Dr. Katharina Riehn of HAW - Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. The jury includes 19 renowned experts from various disciplines and nine countries:
