Dr. Andreas Bärmann
Dr. Andreas Bärmanns is a senior scientist at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in the field of discrete optimization. His focus area are the mathematical analysis of optimization problems and the development of efficient algorithms for the solution of industrial planning tasks. Especially, he investigates the connections between optimization and machine learning. In the Ada Lovelace Center for artificial intelligence in Nuremberg, Germany, he is the coordinator of the competence area optimization. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, he works together with companies from diverse sectors in order to develop software tools for decision support. This includes solutions for strategic, tactical and operative planning challenges, up to the optimal control of processes in real-time.
