The event

Design for Intended Use (DIU) is a thought process and the final result of the packaging design that demonstrates and guarantees the intended use of the packaged product by the intended user. DIU can bring improvements in the food sector, healthcare, e-commerce and the environment. The focus of DIU is the definition of packaging as an occupation: the temporary integration of an external function and a product to enable the use of the product. Packaging includes the unpacking and correct use of the product by the user, the production and responsible disposal of the empty packaging.

In recent years, NVC has carried out various DIU surveys and workshops, in particular at Empack Netherlands, CibusTec Italy and at the open access part of the General Meeting of Members GMM. The Anuga FoodTec 2022 will be the platform for a major activity in the field of DIU for a sustainable future of food packaging worldwide.
