The IVH has been the trade association of the German pet supplies industry since 1972. Its more than 50 member companies from the areas of pet food, commodities, medicines, remedies and care products represent about 90 percent of the German market, which last year had a turnover of more than 6 billion euros. This is largely due to the fact that the number of pets in Germany has been steadily increasing for many years. Today, nearly 36 million cats, dogs, small animals and many other pet species live in almost half of all households.
