The event

Many process heat applications in the food industry require demanding and energy-intensive steam processes (e.g. > 5 MW, pressures > 10 bar, fast load changes). Such process applications can generally not be replaced with combustion-free technologies such as Power2Heat.

Wood pellets can reach this performance through its high energy density and, if needed, “powderisation” before incineration, which further enhances the combustion properties. The characteristics of the fuel also enable a compact plant design, a quick installation, automated operation, and minimal maintenance. The ease of handling, high standardisation of plant technologies and fuel as well as high plant automatization sets pellets apart from other wood-based biomass like wood chips and waste wood.

Additionally, wood pellet applications are highly competitive compared to fossil applications using gas and heating oil, as well as to electricity. It is therefore the ideal green steam solution for the food industry. The fuel’s performance in steam applications has been proven and finetuned for more than 10 years in Sweden, the pioneer market for decarbonisation of industrial steam generation.

In this presentation, Swedish market leader BKtech will describe the innovative technology, and also clarify some common misconceptions regarding the sustainability and future availability of biomass. At the end, there will be time to ask questions about what a decarbonisation move to pellets would mean for your company.
