J PACK – THE CHALLENGE OF SUSTAINABILITY IN THE PACKAGING PROCESS

J Pack is an Italian manufacturing company specialized in designing and producing machines for the food packaging field. Our range includes manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic tray sealers with MAP, SKIN and OVERSKIN technology as well as a line of vacuum chamber machines.

Our company has always had an eye on environmental issues since the beginning of its business. Aware of the new challenges linked to sustainability, we are actively engaged in the development of solutions that could answer to the ever-growing need for eco-friendly packaging and machinery that can minimize our impact on the environment.

The technical and mechanical skills acquired in over forty years of experience in the food industry sector have allowed us to expand our range of totally electric tray sealers. These machines not only eliminate the need for compressors, but also help save on energy consumption, thus reducing the overall carbon footprint.

Research and development also invested on packaging materials. To meet different packaging needs, we have a wide choice of trays and films designed to guarantee maximum freshness and safety of your products in full compliance with sustainability.

The INFINITY range, designed to meet the needs of catering, take-away and the gastronomy department of retail industry, offers recyclable cardboard trays (PAPER line) and compostable containers (industrial compost and home compost) in sugar cane (BIO line). The trays are available in various sizes and offer maximum flexibility of use. They can be used in traditional ovens, microwaves, and freezers.

All INFINITY containers can be sealed by our patented modular mould. This innovative system allows the sealing of all sizes using one single device. In this way customers can avoid any mould change. The INFINITY mould is available on all electrical tabletop models of the TSM – TSS range, both manual and semi-automatic.

Gas flushing is also available on demand. This technology implies the injection of a mixture of inert gasses into the tray before the sealing process. The choice of gas and injection duration can be customized based on the type of food to be packaged. This process, combined with the hermetical sealing of the tray, helps to preserve the food freshness and it reduces the oxygen residual inside the tray increasing the shelf-life of the products. This special application responds to the growing need for flexibility in the professional food packaging sector.

Sustainability challenge also involves skin packaging. We developed a range of flat cardboards for the packing of protruding products which reduces the use of plastic materials of a 70%. In addition, thanks to the customizable graphic, this kind of solution offers to customers a wide range of possibilities in terms of product presentation on the supermarket shelves.
