Prolink Series 18 ¬¬¬¬– Strong and Robust Plastic Modular Belts for any Conveyor

Prolink series 18 is Forbo Movement Systems’ strong curved and spiral plastic modular belt with an innovative hinge pin system. The Prolink belt with a 25.4 mm (1 inch) pitch is available in several variants. They come in incision-resistant polyacetal (POM-CR), polypropylene (PP) and in blue and white.

Variant S18-44 GRT 2.2 G is a belt with guided hold-down tabs and S 18-44 GRT 2.2 is one without guidance on the belt edge. Although the belt, including the hinge pins, is made solely of plastic and therefore very lightweight, it’s very rigid and can handle heavy loads (up to 1600 N in a curve).

The special High Deck design of S18-44 HDK 2.2 guarantees products can be pushed off at the sides and has sufficient width to convey products that extend beyond the actual belt width. For instance, the belt is a top choice for conveying packaging, crates, product trays, and lots of other items requiring large belt widths. The products conveyed can protrude at the sides.

The S18-44 GRT 1.7 is ideal when space is at a premium. An optional tight curve radius makes minimizing the conveyor’s space requirements possible. In curved conveyors where the curve is in one single direction (to the left or right – not on S-shaped curved conveyors!), this type can be combined with the S18-44 GRT 2.2 variant. In this case, the tight curve radius of the 1.7 is married with the exceptional tensile force of the 2.2. This special belt design is found in combo belt series 18.

The S18-44 FRT1 2.2 with Friction Top Pads (FRT design 1) made of outstandingly abrasion-resistant rubber guarantees superb product grip. At the same time, it produces no unwelcome markings on the products and highly sensitive products are conveyed flawlessly. The belts can be used in lots of areas of the food industry. Examples include inclined conveying, applications requiring extreme positioning accuracy, or good grip (i.e. during acceleration of boxes/trays). In wet conditions and during conveying of unpackaged dough products, meat or poultry, this variant is the right choice. The S18-44 FRT1 2.2 comes in white polypropylene with a beige rubber insert, or blue with a blue rubber insert. The blue version stands out from the standard black, Friction Top solutions.

All Prolink series 18 belts have an innovative and unique pin system to allow fast and easy opening and closing. The hinge pins are made of innovative PLX material and perform at a consistently high level, even in wet applications. What’s more – in contrast to the majority of comparable products – the system requires no small closures, therefore reducing the risk of product contamination due to small parts that have been damaged or gone astray. The twin-row sprocket makes reversing operations easy and ensures perfect power transmission.

A particularly interesting feature is that series 18 is perfect for existing conveyor configurations. In most cases, it can be fitted easily to conveyors customers already have. The belts can be used in lots of areas in the food industry. With an open area of 44%, series 18 also provides excellent airflow and drainage. And it only has very small openings in the belt, so conveying very small products is also possible. Prolink series 18 is FDA- and EU-compliant regarding the raw materials used and migration thresholds.
